Whangarei Pistol Club has a dedicated ISSF indoor range which shoots every Wednesday and Thursday evening at the range from 5.00pm to 7.00pm.
We have a good mix of junior and senior shooters and all are welcome.
The club has a
number of club guns which are
available for club members or
visitors to use on club nights. We
have 10 shooting lanes with electric
target changers on each lane.
You can usually have a lane to shoot
in at your own pace for as long as
you wish. If we are busy, we may ask
you to limit your shooting to an
hour.
While the prime
aim of the club is to encourage new
shooters into the sport and to have
fun while learning a new
discipline,
shooters are encouraged to enter and
compete in a number of national
competitions during the year.
We have members shooting in the

Club Equipment
The pistols we use are the same basic pistols that are used in the Olympic Games although Olympic shooters will spend a lot of time 'tuning' their triggers and ensuring the grip fits their hand perfectly.
The most commonly used pistols in competitions today are listed below with the top two being Morini & Steyr;
All these pistols are capable of shooting one hole groups at 10 metres although the challenge for the shooter is to achieve this. These pistil can cost between $2,500 and $3,000 new however, second-hand pistols can be found for around $1,500 to $2,000 depending on age and condition. Our club has a number of Morini 162's available to use on club nights for those members who do not own their own. In addition to a pistol you will need good quality pellets specifically for air pistol. These are relatively cheap and a tin of 500 will cost you around $10.00 These can be purchased at the club.
